The longer I observe, the less fixed things seem to become. Movement leaves traces, forms appear and disappear, and what seemed familiar begins to lose its certainty. There is something in this uncertainty that allows recognition. In observing something outside ourselves — a movement, a trace, a small and temporary form — we may recognise something without quite knowing why.
